WILL-- Nursing homes-- 00-- why seniors avoid them

There were two ladies on my street who died over the past few years. I could see that they were in poor shape and was astonisehd to witness them continuing to live in their houses despite being better off in a "nursing home". I play organ for seniers in nursing homes from time to time and I think the homes I've been to are excellent. They have social lives, entertainment and nurse support. Why would these ladies on my street avoid that and live alone?

Now I know.

Nursing homes basically steal assets. If these ladies had moved into a nursing home, that nursing home company would grab the real estate of the client-- leaving the family or heirs with nothing. A good deal of work and understanding has to be achieved to protect assets if one ever considers a nursing home. These putrid companies even have a so called "look back" period so that if you enact protection of your real estate just BEFORE going into a nursing home, they can get your property anyway-- because they can discern that you were motivated to protect your property for THAT VERY PURPOSE.

This whole process is totally awful. The ladies on my street should have been able to get into a dormitory for seniors with care assistance AND have been able to pass their home along to their heirs. I'm looking into long term care insurance-- but that field is a nightmare too. I used to enjoy watching Grade B science fiction and horror stories as a kid. Now I'm living one. I also enjoyed Rod Serling's Twilight Zone.... and now I'm in it.
