CRYONICS-- Ventureville-- 03-- Open letter to Dave Pizer

I emailed this final word to DAve after a series of exchanges between us recently--

QUOTE
The entire concept of this thing being dependent on
someone else "buying in with you" strikes me as the
fallacy here. I think you ought to have set it up
independently. I think it should have been near Alcor
headquarters or near the hospice that Alcor uses.
Zoning should have been some sort of combination of
residential/commerical. The Venturists should have
remained a Church-- and we should have had Sat or Sun
services... like all churches. it should have been
able to help cryos preserve their records on computer
media. You would have been the minister or rabii guy--
whatever... The idea that someone would buy in to a
house a mayer-- out there-- struck me as odd from the
beginning. The mystery of Comos land near alcor
remains a mystery.

Hey! You had me going for awhile! I "believed" in your
project. If you ever get to the point where you want
to do it my way, give me a call. For now, us
cryonicists will all face death in a cold clinical
setting with people like Tanya recording our breath
rate-- and nobody gathered around playing our favorite
music. Great. I'm in the process of doing a will-- and
the medical directive says to withhold food and water.
I can't sign that. I WANT food and water. Cryos don't
talk about death much-- Brian wowk thinks it's like a
heart tansplant. I don't think it is.

You said yourself people get terrified when they
approach death. Ventureville was supposed to make
death/freezing less terrifying. Well-- so much for
that idea.

Best of luck-- and I guess I have to get to work to.
This reminds me of the last episode of Sienfeld--
where Jerry, George, Kramer and Elaine are departing
from each other after getting off the subway-- to go
to work-- their final act in a show that lasted over
10 years-- They all look at each other-- one last
time-- one says "ok"-- another shrugs his shoulders--
another says "see ya".

It's poinent. It's funny too. The whole thing was an
illusion. Maybe timeship is like that too.

ok then... i'm off to work too.
