Piano hell grows less hot as some headway made.

A primary focus for me right now is a grand piano that's misbehaving. I'm having to really learn more about the mechanics of what makes a nice tone than I had planned on. Luckily, it now appears the new technician I hired is someone I can work with. I spent a few hours with him on the piano yesterday morning. For me, the mark of a good technicican is his ability to explain the nature of problems and solutions-- to be able to talk me through things. That applies from everyone from my car mechanic, to my dentist and paralegal. Generally, people aren't very good at explaining things-- this new piano technician passes with a B+ I would say.

I'm not out of the woodwork yet in terms of sound quality but at least the touch problems I had are being solved enough that I enjoyed playing this unit last night. I was okay in that regard. The next issue we have to work on is the cracked leg. The two other legs need some repair too-- that makes three leg in need of work. A grand piano only HAS three legs so this is really critical.
