CRYONICS-- deathwill-- willing yourself to die at an optimal time is legal

I found a little piece recently-- will publish location later-- on the idea that human beings can will themsevles to die. If you take away the morbidity associated with death-- and look at if from a cryoncist's point of view-- this becomes fascinating because suicide is illegal and causes problems-- and is conidered psychotic. The entire Oregon based movmenet of right to die where a new cryonics org is attempting to be active isn't the solution either since right to die gets into legal and ethical complications. But what if one's own death were completely and totally willed at the time one desired it without having to resort to external methods? This would be of value to the cryonicist who doesn't want their brain to deteriorate into mush or even into craziness as occurred in the past. See this post by Mike Darwin for those examples. [+]

Cryonics deals with the dying process as kevin brown pointed out-- in his attempt to put together a better way to market cryonics. [+] As we understand the dying process better, we see that there is a point where a human being "realizes" that the end is near... that "this is it"... [+] When that occurs, the theory is that the dying person, knowing his time short, can through sheer willpower, make it occur sooner-- through internal dialogue-- which is NOT suicide-- but something quite different. I don't think this topic has ever been covered-- even in Hemlock Society literature.

The corollary to this of course, is willing one's self to be and stay alive. This entire area deals with first, the subconcious mind-- which cryonicists are not in the habit of exploring. Secondly, it might deal with phenomenon that would be beyond our current ken... maybe at a quantum level-- but that's pure speculation-- interesting speculation but we don't need that to understand what I'll call deathwill and lifewill.
